01Who we are and what this covers

Kojent Kode is the app development branch of Kojent Partners L.L.C-FZ ("Kojent Partners", "we", "us" or "our"), based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Kojent Partners is responsible for the personal information it processes in connection with the services described here.

This policy covers Gjort (also styled “gjørt”), Hé Fēn Mahjong, their mobile and browser experiences, the websites at gjort.it and hefenmahjong.com, and the Kojent Kode section of kojentpartners.com (together, the “Services”). It covers app-related support and enquiries, but not unrelated financial advisory engagements.

Gjort

A local-first task app. Tasks stay on your device; content is sent to an AI provider when you request an AI feature. Ads, purchases and diagnostics have their own data flows.

Hé Fēn Mahjong

A mahjong app with scoring, AI-assisted features and online play. Selected images, scoring inputs and game-session information may be processed to provide those features.

Features vary by app, platform and version. A description of a feature does not mean that every app collects all of the information listed in this policy.

02Gjort: tasks, voice and AI

Gjort stores your tasks, checklists, projects, recurring rules, habit and energy information, colour-theme preferences and TetriSquare game progress locally on your device. We do not maintain a cloud database of your to-do lists. Local storage does not prevent information from leaving your device when you choose an AI feature or send something to support.

When you use an AI feature such as Brain Dump or task breakdown, the relevant voice recording or text is sent to Google’s Gemini API to generate the requested result, such as task titles, dates, checklists or smaller steps. When you ask the AI task assistant to analyse your task history, the task information needed for that request may also be sent. Your task history is not shared with Google for analysis unless you request it.

Gjort uses Google’s paid/enterprise API services. Under the applicable paid-service terms, Google does not use these prompts and responses to train its foundation models. This does not mean that requests have no provider-side retention: Google may retain information for service operation, security and abuse monitoring under its applicable terms. See Google’s Gemini API terms.

Voice capture requires microphone permission. You can change that permission in your device settings. Avoid including confidential information about other people in an AI request unless you have the right to share it.

03Hé Fēn: photos, scoring and play

Photos and scoring

With your permission, Hé Fēn can use your camera or a photo you select to identify mahjong tiles and help calculate a score. We may process the selected image, information derived from it, your chosen ruleset, rule documents and other scoring inputs. Where cloud processing is needed, these inputs may be transmitted to providers supporting recognition, AI and scoring features, including Google Firebase AI and related services.

Images submitted for ordinary scoring are not used for advertising. The app does not access photos or media you have not selected or permitted it to access. You can change camera and photo permissions in your device settings.

Reviews and improvement

If you report an incorrect score or submit a result for review, we may receive the related image, ruleset, score, corrections, comments and technical information to investigate and improve the app. Where we offer an optional choice to contribute images or scoring information for improvement and rely on consent, you can refuse without losing normal scoring functionality, and you can withdraw that consent.

Online and multiplayer features

Online play may require player or session identifiers, game and room identifiers, selected rulesets, gameplay information and connection details. Other players can see information made visible in the game, such as your player name. Choose a name that you are comfortable sharing with other players.

04Technical data, websites and support

We and our providers may process your device type, operating system, app version, language, IP address, installation identifiers, usage events and crash or diagnostic information to operate, secure and improve the Services. These records can be associated with a device or installation even when they do not contain your name; they are not necessarily anonymous.

Hé Fēn uses Google Firebase services. Firebase Analytics may process app usage information, and Firebase Cloud Messaging may process installation or device tokens for push notifications that you enable. The Hé Fēn website uses Google Analytics. Gjort may use basic analytics and crash-reporting tools where enabled, subject to the applicable settings and consent requirements.

Our website hosting and security providers receive technical request information needed to deliver pages and protect the sites. The Kojent Kode pages do not add advertising or analytics trackers. Third-party sites and app stores you visit through our links apply their own privacy policies.

If you contact us or submit a suggestion, we receive the information you provide, such as your name, email address, message, attachments and relevant technical details. We use it to respond, investigate problems and improve the Services. Please include only information necessary for your request.

05Advertising and privacy choices

Both apps may display advertising through Google AdMob; Gjort may also show ads in TetriSquare. Depending on your location, permissions and choices, Google and its advertising partners may process IP addresses, device or advertising identifiers, approximate location inferred from technical information, app usage, ads displayed and interactions with ads. They use this information to deliver, measure and improve ads and, where permitted, personalise them.

On Apple devices, we request App Tracking Transparency permission before tracking where Apple requires it. You can decline. On Android, advertising identifiers are subject to your device and Google privacy settings. Where applicable law requires consent, advertising personalisation is subject to that consent. Declining tracking or personalisation does not prevent access to the app, although ads may still appear.

We do not sell personal information for monetary payment. Advertising disclosures may still be treated as “sharing” or a “sale” under some privacy laws, even without payment to us. Where applicable, you may opt out of personalised advertising through the app’s available privacy choices and your device settings, or contact us for assistance.

See Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses information from partner apps and sites.

06Purchases and subscriptions

Apple App Store or Google Play processes app purchases and subscriptions, depending on your platform. We do not receive your complete payment-card details. We and the relevant providers may process product identifiers, transaction records, subscription status and entitlement information to deliver paid features, restore purchases and handle support.

Hé Fēn may use RevenueCat to manage purchases, subscriptions and access to paid features. RevenueCat may process app or installation identifiers, products purchased, transaction and subscription status, and related technical information. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy.

Deleting an app or requesting deletion of personal information does not itself cancel a store subscription. Manage cancellations through the store where you subscribed.

07Why we process information

We process information to provide requested features; return AI and scoring results; support online play; manage subscriptions; respond to requests; investigate errors; analyse performance; improve the Services; prevent fraud and misuse; provide and measure advertising where applicable; and meet legal obligations.

Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on the basis appropriate to the activity and jurisdiction. This may include performing our agreement with you for requested features and purchases; our legitimate interests, where that basis is available, in securing and maintaining the Services and responding to support requests; consent for processing that requires it, including certain advertising and optional improvement uses; and compliance with legal obligations.

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. Device permission and legal consent are distinct: allowing microphone or camera access does not, by itself, authorise unrelated uses of your information.

08Providers and other disclosures

Information is shared as needed with providers supporting the relevant feature, including Google and its Gemini, Firebase and AdMob services; Apple and Google Play for distribution and payments; RevenueCat for Hé Fēn subscription management where used; and hosting, security, technical and professional service providers. Some providers process data on our behalf; others process information under their own terms and privacy policies.

We may disclose information where required by law, to protect legal rights or safety, investigate fraud or security issues, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring or transfer of the relevant business. Any such processing remains subject to applicable law.

Information you make visible during multiplayer play is also shared with the relevant players. This policy does not give other users permission to reuse your information.

09Retention and deletion

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for its purpose, taking account of the feature, support needs, security, legal obligations and applicable provider arrangements.

  • Gjort’s local information: you can remove tasks within the app or delete app data from your device. Removing the app normally removes its local data; offloading an app may keep data, and device backups or restored copies may remain under your device or backup settings.
  • AI requests: data sent to an AI provider is subject to the processing and retention arrangements for that service. Deleting local app data does not automatically delete copies already processed by a provider.
  • Hé Fēn scoring images: ordinary scoring inputs are retained only as needed to provide the feature or investigate technical issues, unless you separately submit them for review or consent to improvement use. Review submissions may be retained while investigating the issue or as reasonably needed for the disclosed improvement purpose.
  • Other records: support, diagnostic, analytics, multiplayer and subscription information is retained according to operational needs, legal obligations and the relevant provider’s retention arrangements.

When information is no longer required, we delete or anonymise it where reasonably possible. Limited information may be retained for legal, accounting, security or fraud-prevention purposes. Contact us to request deletion of information held by us or to ask about a specific type of data.

10International processing and security

Kojent Partners is based in the UAE. Our providers may process information in other countries, whose privacy laws may differ from those where you live. Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, those safeguards must apply to the transfer, including appropriate contractual protections where required.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse and disclosure. No electronic service or method of transmission is completely secure. Protect access to your device, particularly where it holds Gjort’s local task information.

11Your rights and controls

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information; receive a portable copy; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent; and opt out of certain advertising uses. You may also complain to the relevant data protection authority. Mandatory privacy rights are not limited by this policy.

Send requests to Tim@KojentPartners.com, identifying the app and the information or activity concerned. We may ask for proportionate information to verify the request and locate records associated with an installation, transaction or session. Do not send passwords or complete payment-card details. We respond within the time required by applicable law.

Use your device settings to manage microphone, camera, photo, notification, advertising and tracking permissions. Use any available in-app consent controls to change optional processing choices. Disabling a permission may stop the related feature from working.

Apple’s App Privacy and Google Play’s Data safety disclosures provide additional platform information. They should be read alongside this policy and the settings relevant to the version you use.

12Children’s privacy

The apps are not directed to children under 13 or the applicable minimum age for independent digital consent in the relevant jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children where parental consent is required without obtaining that consent.

If you believe a child has provided personal information improperly, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

13Updates and contact

We may update this policy as features, providers or legal requirements change. We will update the date above and, where appropriate or required, provide notice through the relevant app or website and obtain new consent before processing that requires it.
